WHAT IS UDRI?

Founded in 1979 as a juridical foundation authorized by National Land Agency and Ministry of Construction, and currently as an auxiliary organization of Cabinet Office and National Land and Transportation Ministry, Urban Disaster Research Institute plays a role of public utility corporation pursuing disaster prevention problems. UDRI always studies urban disaster prevention of the next generation and addresses various activities as a member of domestic and international public-interest networks. In 1997, UDRI set up an associated institute, Asia Disaster Prevention Center in Kobe (Hyogo prefecture) to collect disaster information and to conduct activities to contribute to disaster preventive policies in respective Asian countries.
